should i get air or water for my dragon rider

Thread Starter
i've been searching a lot and could only find minimal information on cpu cooling for the in-win dragon rider, which apparently can only use heat sinks 150mm or less. i already have my case but do not have alot of the part so i cant find out myself. Seems like many people are just using the H50 or H70 for it or the rasa 750 kit, which ive been contemplating very hard about getting ( dont wanna spend 180) because i want new tubing and compression fittings
however i did find this:
http://www.evga.com/articles/00631/
which is only 2mm off so im not sure if i can try to squeeze it or not.

also this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835186039
which id really rather not but because it just isnt appealing to me. Any Advice?

really leaning towards Rasa, but would much rather find a pretty little air cooler so i dont have to deal with water. But water cooling is so cool looking :/

A brief survey:-

Scythe Yasya 159mm (unknown conflict with side panel 220mm fan)
http://pro-clockers.com/cases/1840-i...r.html?start=4

Megahalems 158.7mm (unknown conflict)
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/I...n_Rider/5.html

SpinQ 151.9mm (no conflict with side fan)
http://www.modders-inc.com/modules.p...tory4&reid=347
(reveiwer said the SpinQ is spec'd at about 155mm but the exact height is actually 151.9mm. His report of a max of 165mm clearance with installed side 220mm fan is likely inaccurate as many other review sites found clearance problem for 160mm heatsinks. Beware!)

Xigmatek Aegir 159mm (unknown conflict)
http://www.pureoverclock.com/review.php?id=1220&page=5

OCZ Vendetta 134mm (no conflict)
http://hardwarebistro.com/?option=co...Chassis-Review

Noctua NH-U12P 158mm (conflict with 220mm fan)
http://www.vortez.net/articles_pages..._review,6.html

Thermalright 120 160.5mm (conflict with 220mm fan)
http://www.bjorn3d.com/read.php?cID=1978&pageID=10077

CM V10 161.3mm (conflict with 220mm fan)
http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1503/6/

Thor's Hammer 160mm (conflict with 220mm fan)
http://www.overclockersclub.com/revi...on_rider/3.htm

Conclusion:-
Based on the fact that SpinQ (151.9mm tall) has no conflict with the side panel fan, EVGA Superclock (152mm tall) might be OK. But no guarantee.

Instead of using a 120mm fan cooler, using 92mm fan heatsink Noctua NH-U9 series is a feasible option.
Nice and compact. Not as powerful as 120mm counterparts but NH-U9B SE2 is still very capable.
Review: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/N...U9B_SE2/5.html).

And, of course, going the water route is also feasible.

Nice list, thanks windfire. however, i feel like only some of those might work. According to this review the spinq and spinq vt both would not fit with the fan on. http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/?...n-rider-review

would be the way to go...only 135mm with the top fan installed even http://www.silentpcreview.com/Noctua_NH-C14_CPU_Cooler

and it actually works in conjunction with the side air intake

I reckon, SpinQ fits for modders-inc.com but does not fit for thebestcasescenario.com because they used 2 different motherboards.

The position of the CPU on the 2 motherboards is not exactly identical. So, it could be the SpinQ just misses the side panel fan by a mm or two when it is fitted to that particular motherboard.

The Silver Arrow fits fine in my case with side panel fans. Just check your case dimensions
