AMD 955 stock cooler and clock - Page 3

I've spoked to AMD after I owned my 920 for almost a year. They accepted my RMA straight away without even presenting proof of purchase.

I'm cheap and really get annoyed with pc components. Hell this damn cpu is already bottlenecking a 6950 I'm saving for and unlock it to a 6970. Seems like everytime I buy something, it's outdated a week later or no longer sold or a newer version being made.

Just bought some car audio stuff and whatdoyouknow. Both businesses are already in prototype/testing phases of their equipment that does better for the same price.

Sounds like you are good. I would contact AMD.

I can understand this.

My logic is that an after market CPU cooler is generally a good investment. The stock fan most CPUs comes with are generally of poor quality, while even a modest after market HSF performs quite a bit better. The reason they are a good investment, is that they are compatible with a lot of sockets. You can even switch them between AMD/Intel.

I've told them that my CPU is not responding to anything and prevents system from booting. In fact it was my fault as I've tried to Clr_CMOS while system was on and then just pssst... and socket as well as CPU got fried

If you've got the invoice just open an RMA by filling the form and state that CPU has too high temperature at stock settings. You can prove this by attaching a print screen of temperatures to show your point. Mention that you replaced thermal compund several times and case is well ventiated.

Stock AMD coolers aint that bad u know. I've got Athlon 64 x2 7750BE OCed to 3,6GHz and it works fine. Yes its quite loud but temps aren't that bad as there is only one intake fan at the front and passive 7950GT which is quite hot

Check your motherboard for visible damage. There would be leaking MOSFETs/VRMs (little black boxes around the motherboard). Anything that looks damaged/burnt.

Check this thread:

http://www.overclock.net/amd-cpus/94...hy-choose.html

I didn't actually find your specific MB on there, but MSI seems to be a pretty safe bet for motherboard failures.

It could be possible the motherboard is sending bad power to the CPU. Not really sure how you'd go about testing this, aside from putting a different chip in the same board.

You can check voltage with Voltmeter if you got one. Its a good way to find out if the PSU provides the right voltage, it may be the PSU that sends the wrong voltage

You have got to be fing kidding me. Used a different method and also a different paste and same damn thing. This is worthless. The pc is literally under a window and it's 50f outside and about 60f in my room. I'm here freezing and the pc is literally baking cupcakes laughing at me.

Ummmmmmmmmm ok this is weird but I had to blow it out a second time and get a small can of air to get in all the nooks and crannies. A bunch flew out of the heatsink and now my max temp is around 56-58c and my room is about 72-75 degrees farenheight in the middle of the day in the 80's.

Saved me a bunch of money. I appreciate what you did for me nature.
