Tried that as well It's like some white sticker material holding it in place from either side. I just get scared when I hear that noise.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

He means the heatsinks on the RAM, not the sticks in the slots themselves.

No screws from where I can see. And don't feel comfortable cutting up my RAM. I might as well get a Corsair H70 . Thanks for the help guys.

Ordered myself a Corsair H70 from NewEgg. With free thermal compound. Any tips to provide the best outcome? (Different fans, separate reservoir, ect?)

Yeah, the stock fan is pretty average in terms of airflow/noise, consider adding another 120 for push/pull config for even better temps.

Other than that, half a pea sized dot of thermal compound on the CPU blah blah you know the rest.

Got any specific fan in mind? Or just some average joe 120 fans from the local PC hardware shop?

The h70 comes with good paste pre-applied. Just use that for your first mount.

An antec 920 would have been better, and it comes with a free card reader

You don't need to change the TIM of the H70, it's Shin Etsu the more expensive TIMs

some AP15's would work as fans
