Which of these two should I get (NEW QUESTION)?

Ok long time since I last posted (or even had the chance to buy anything else) so here is what I need from my comp.

Run multiple programs at once including FF with multiple tabs, uTorrent, and possibly a 1080p movie without lagging/freezing.

Play 1080p movies flawlessly

High graphic requirement games with no problem (and other programs in background)

Here are the two Im looking at, which would run more smoothly and faster for what I need it for?

A Intel Core i3-2120 Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz 2 x 256KB L2 Cache 3MB L3 Cache LGA 1155 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor BX80623I32120 for $149.99

Or a Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 Yorkfield 2.66GHz 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 95W Quad-Core Processor BX80580Q8400 for $169.99

And I REALLY cant be spending more than that, they are actually more than I wanted to spend in the first place so please dont suggest more expensive stuff.

The only reason I was actually questioning the Sandy Bridge was because its a dual core and the other is a quad core so I wasnt sure which would actually run smoother with everything running at once, especially since Ive been told 1080p movies take a lot out on the CPU and I know the high end games do as well.

I wanna gather a bit more opinions before I make my decision, but I do like your suggestion Mr.Eiht, its cheaper lol

The SB one is going to rape the quad in every way, even in multithreaded apps. Games will run about 10%-30% faster.

Get the i3.

Two reasons: newer technology which means you can upgrade in the future, and it typically outperforms the core2quad. Here's a link

Ok so for games the i3 is much better.

Devilmaypoop: nice name btw lol. So "in every way" you do also mean with multitasking too right?

Firedude, thanks for the link its a great reference point (bookmarked it). By upgrade later do you mean to another cpu or upgrade the i3 itself?

EDIT: Oh I might want to point out that I will be using this CPU with Windows 7

Another CPU.. later.. if we get lucky.. maybe i7 2600k prices would drop..
If you're getting an i3, then you'd have an LGA 1155 motherboard.. It is very likely that the LGA 1155 board would support new processors a few months to a year from now.

The quad core you mentioned, you'd have to pair that up with a dead system (LGA 775).

Oh ok I see what you're saying. Now I have one last question if Im not bugging you guys too much. I looked around and so far read that between the 2100 and the 2120 is 200 Mhz and would not be noticeable. Would you guys agree thats its not worth the extra $25?
