2500k or 2600k?

Thread Starter
I am having a tough time deciding on which I want.

On one hand I fold and the HT (8 threads) on the 2600k would be useful as to getting 50k ppd, but I cannot justify the price over the 2500k. The thing is I want my cake and eat it too.....

Another tidbit is, I am shooting more video of my kids, so I will be video encoding more.

Any opinions?

There's a Micro Center in Madison Heights if you live within driving distance you can get it for less than $300 after taxes.

They have plenty in stock.

Are you near the Micro Center on I75?

Cheaper there than at Newegg.

If i were you i'd get the 2600k. It might cost a little more but it's better suited to your needs.

BTW a 2500k only gets 45K points in a VM linux.

Obviously it's entirely up to you though.

I recently had the same dilemma.... but decided the extra £100 for the i7 wasn't worth it... it will go towards a SSD or GPU instead.

Buy the 2600k & tell yourself that you're doing it for the kids There's your justification
