Can he wait 1 month ? I heard BD is being released June 20th. Might wanna wait to see what AMD has to offer.

Otherwise, just get the i5 2500k, the i7 is not better at all, may be even worse than the i5.

Also, might wanna get a cheaper board, something like a P8P67 PRO (Wait for BD imo).

Grab a 6950 instead (REFERENCE) and unlock to a full 6970.

Grab this kit http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231430 of ram for 10$ more.

Get a F3 drive instead of the hatachi, and with all the savings, grab an SSD.

The case is a mATX while the board is an ATX.

Thanks for the tip! I'll wait for a few more responses and reprice. Does a SSD really help much? I mean besides load times?

I don't own a SSD, but everyone who own one will NEVER go back to HDD..Everything is snappier. I played with a friend's one and wow..it's really nice and fast. When I'll move to BD, I'll get one for sure.

ssd will help load times and boot time and yes it is a noticable difference. as for the 2500k vs. 2600k. yes get the 2500k if he's only gaming. if you have a local microcenter go grab it for there since it's considerably cheaper. as for hdd i would get a f3 or caviar black as a main drive. don't go with the hitachi (personal negative)

everything else looks good. good luck!

-BD may be great but you can bet if it is that it'll be more expensive than SB (2600k's can already be had for under $300). Regardless how fast BD is, SB will probably be a better value for a while and you can get a SB today.

-The i7 2600k is NEVER worse than the 2500k. Its HT may not be of benefit in gaming but it is miles better in heavily threaded apps. Just check the Cinebench scores.

-P8P67-Pro or the ASRock P67 Extreme4 are great mobos.

-The Hitachi Deskstars are fantastic HDD's. Don't listen to anybody here telling you they aren't. Plus they are the best value available.

-An SSD is a pure luxury item. Not necessary at all. Windows will boot faster and apps (that you have installed on the SSD) will load faster but they will bust your budget in a hurry....

i totally agree with what everyone has said smile.gif... get the 2500k, F3, and get an SSD... you could also check out the P67A-UD4 i personally love almost all of gigabytes UD series tongue.gif... as for the GPU and PSU... that is an amazing deal... i would stick with it smile.gif... that is also a good price for a good set of RAM (i have used them a number of times and never had any problems)... good luck on your build smile.gif... and do you mind me asking what color the phantom will be? smile.gif

EDIT: NVM about the color... i was thinking about the phantom... and that case only takes mATX and ITX motherboards... it will not fit the mobo you want

Are you sure about that?

First I noticed was the NZXT Vulcan and the Motherboard.

You really to check your stuff man.

F3s are the best bang for buck drivers available. "GAMING BUILD" No point of wasting 100$ what will NEVER be used. You can't predict BD value / performance price yet so don't come in with your fanboyism.

If he saves money on the HDD, mobo, GPU and CPU, he can afford the SSD which he will love if he's gaming.

Change your case since it's mATX.

frown.gif you caught it before me... i think everybody saw NZXT and thought Phantom tongue.gif... you might want to check out these cases:

HAF 932
NZXT Phantom

just make sure the case you get supports the motherboard size you have... prity much all the p67 motherboards in you price range will be ATX... just make sure you get a case that will support an ATX motherboard
