Also, wasn't the thing that killed cross-platform GFWL the fact that PC user could move and aim way faster that someone using a gamepad and made the game unfair?
If this "rumour" is true, every game will most likely be tied to GFWL with very strict DRM, of course this wont bother me at all, as I like GFWL, and who doesn't have a constant internet connection these days

How this would be done is the "emulator" would use the game assets. They would need a translation pack that could be updated along side new releases (probably through windows update). It would be similar to how the devs port the games its all mostly handled automatically. The code would be running after the translation it would not need to on the fly, convert Power PC instuctions to x86.

If I'm not mistaken, the 360 uses modified versions of .NET and DirectX for all of it's games, so its already running intermediate code. Switching from PPC to x86 shouldn't be too difficult. There's an ARM version of Mono, so why not a PPC one?

You just have to handle all of the device-specific optimizations, system calls, as well as the 360's EDRAM.

It would be a monumental task for a 3rd party, but Microsoft has full control over their OS and isn't afraid of wasting the thousands of man hours needed to pull it off.

Than what will happen to xbox 360 when people can play 360 games on their pc's?

Oh I smell where this is going, windows is trying to make 360 games playable on the pc so that when the xbox 720 or something similar comes out, a new disk or new format will be out. So technically they want to make more profit by allowing pc gamers to be able to play 360 games while all other people that do buy xbox 720 in the future will buy their new games. Either way, its a win win situation for Windows/Microsoft.

I'm trying to think of a 360 game that I'd want to play that doesn't already have a PC version right now (or in the pipes). Mortal Kombat?

It may be strict but how are they going to see if it's a legit disk you got in the drive? Traditional console method won't be enough and efficient on PC as there is way more Crackers/Hackers roaming up there. Unless they get CD-Keys but there isn't any on Xbox having that as far as I know.

Maybe I'll finally get to play Alan Wake. Some three years late.
It would cut down on costs of having to port console games to PC - now they can literally just play the console versions on PC!
