So what's the limit on SSD caching? Would it make sense to get a 120+GB SSD for it?

First I am pretty sure there is a max of 60gigs, second not at all, SSD caching is mainly for the BUDGET minded, wanting to put say a 20gig ssd in front of their hdd. Usually if you have anything bigger than 60 gigs of SSD than you should just install your operating system onto it, and the few apps that you use daily and will notice the difference. (some games like the ssd, others they will take just as long to load on a ssd as normal hdd, and I don't think there is an fps gain).

Basically, if you have a 120gb ssd, don't bother with it.

Oh, thanks. Also, how does the caching work? Is it just certain files or would it cache the entire OS library? And is it entirely dynamic or permanent.

I am not sure on that one, I know it is dynamic, (so if it is too small it will probably kill the life of the drive with all the writes), but as to the method on what it chooses to put on the SSD I am unsure of. It says "most frequently used files" so I am sure they have some type of algorithm.

SSD caching isn't important. Z68 is for people who want on board graphics.

Just like that L2 and L3 cache on die (on your CPU). Very fast access times (often less than 1 cycle- whereas memory--yes, even the fast kind--is in the neighborhood of 200, and mechanical hard drives are like 10,000 cycles). The thing is that those on die caches are very small, and expensive. So leveraging them with increasingly slower and increasingly larger storage devices (RAM, HDD, then off-site backups) is the best cost/performance ratio. SSD Caching is probably still slower than RAM access times though right?
