1100t O/C on ASUS Crosshair IV Extreme

Thread Starter
Hey guys, wondered if i could pick your brains, the Crosshair IV extreme i swear has its overclock options spread over many more options in the BIOS menu than any other system, i cant seem to get my CPU (Phenom II x6 1100t) over 3.8ghz really only using the CPU multiplier (and im unsure if thats stable either), thats without overvolting, ive had my system built for a few months now and just had the CPU set to stock... (3.3ghz), which as you may know is quite frustrating since i have a board thats made for so much more. if someone could give me a few pointers of how to use the BIOS on this board, it would be a big help, heres my PC specs

HAF X Case
ASUS Crosshair IV Extreme Mobo
AMD Phenom II x6 1100t 3.3ghz
Cooled by Corsair H50
4gb Corsair Dominator GT 2133 (2x2gb)
1000w PSU
Gainward GTX 580 Phantom 1.5gb
ASUS GTX 470 1.28gb

Cheers guys

you can put your system info in at user cp (at the top of this page) > add system.

you can oc x6's with just the multiplier by going 200x20= 4.0ghz @ ~1.45-1.47v on the cpu-vcore. (changing the vcore will up the related voltages, so no need to change anything else).

however, you will get more performance out of overclocking the fsb (which will raise the cpu, nb, ht, and ram speeds). the ch4 will run 3000 on the nb no sweat at about 1.35-1.4v on the cpu-nb. just check your temperatures in amd overdrive or cpuid hardware monitor. more voltage = higher temps.

you can put up to 1.5 on an x6 with an h50 and keep it under 50*c at load no sweat around 4.1 (maybe 4.2) every chip and board is different, and these are just recommendations, so you just have to work with it to find what works for you and is stable and stays cool.

im assuming CPU NB is Northbridge? and it is different to VCORE?, i hear the Northbridge temps get pretty high on the Crosshair iv extreme, its only a couple of months old, so i assume that bug was fixed, since it was ASUS not applying thermal material or somthing

there should be a separate setting for voltage. one cpu-nb and one nb. just make sure to check your temps, nb should be tempin-1. if its high, taking off the heatsink and putting new tim on it and reseating seemed to help a lot in the past.

ok, ive upped my CPU voltage to 1.45, on CPU-Z it seems to be fluctuating between 1.45 and 1.5X but mainly at 1.45-1.46 area but been running idle @ 4013.5mhz for about 30 mins with CPU temps of 35-37 degrees, No blue screen so far. any ideas of how to carry out a stress on the CPU? what about the 3D Mark Vantage cpu benchmark?
