XSPC D5 Dual 5.25" Bay Res Question - Page 2

My method is to use a bench power supply and throttle the voltage up and down with the top of the reservoir open. I keep the distilled water handy, keeping the res topped off and by ramping the pump speed up and down I can usually get my loop 100% in less than an hour. Before I apply any power to the pumps, I fill the res and squeeze the tubing anywhere I can see air in the lines. Once every bit is out I start slowly around 8V.

just tap the tubing here and there with a pen or pencil (like between the rad and the cpu block and between the cpu block and the pump).

Don't go bashing the tube, just tap the tubing. With each tap you should see a bunch of bubbles move along the tubing that you are taping.

Do this for a few minutes on each tube from pump back to res and the bubbles will move along and end up in the res.

Turn the loop on and do this for about 2 minutes. Then turn the loop off and let it settle for 30 seconds and then turn it back on and do it again for another 2 minutes.

Do the above a few times and all the bubbles should be gone

sorry for nectro posting but i have the same bay and it is a PAIN to get air out. I am using the MCP655-B pump so it has a fan controller to control the voltage, unfortunately this means i have to have the computer on to control the fan speed and get the air out.... has anyone come up with a crafty way to get the air out of this specific bay (since the inlet shoots right into the pump intake air doesn't have time to float up, just straight through the loop)

Some people using the 355 bay res have a simillar issue and use a bent plastic spoon inserted through the fill port and placed between the intake and the bent elbow return. I've got a pic here somewhere but can't find atm mad.gif

thanks, it starts out quiet but after 3 seconds the pump reaches an incredible noise level and is completely unbearable haha

i kinda wish i could cut that feed pipe so its not just RIGHT up against the inlet, giving air time and room to get out.

WOW okay so after you mentioned the spoon thing, i started thinking, what can i jam in there to block and slow down the flow, low and behold the handle end of nail clippers works PERFECTLY!

after about 5 minutes of blocking the flow the machine is 5x quieter than it was.

it's hard to imagine how loud air can make a pump lmao, if anyone else has this problem with this res/pump in the future, just block the flow of water with SOMETHING for a few minutes, the air will quickly drain the system.
