To clarify it for you and others, the evo 3D hasnt been released yet. Originally the EVO 3D had a locked bootloader (found out via leaked files). This pissed off everyone who was planning on buying the phone and using custom roms/etc. Which started the protest on FB and other sites.

Now HTC has proclaimed they will unlock the bootloader on the 3D and all future devices. We do not know if the 3D will be released unlocked or we will get the key or an update.
