sorry my mistake...

but in truth it is still a quality issue..

because it is a bad quality design...

the 570 non reference cards are good from what i have heard...

i haven't seen one as of yet...

but i have seen about 4 dead 570s come through work...

out of 5 that have been sold (evga branded)

and i haven't seen one dead 480 come back...

the 570 lacks the memory bridge width of the 480 320 bit vs. 384 bit.
both have 480 cores

Is this EVGA 570 Reference it seems to look different to the normal ones

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1280m...4mhz-480-cores

Also how would the memory affect performance to the 480 surely the OC on it would level the playing field? But if you google the Gigabyte 480 SOC they seem to have problems often for returns

to my knowledge... that isn't a reference card....

so that one should be fine...

also the memory bus widith is smaller due to the smaller VRAM...

it will offer no performance difference...

unless ofcourse the game needs more then 1.28Gb you will have issue...

that said you should have that issue unless you are looking at surround..

Nope no surround just on my 1920x1080 monitor is all i want it for and to max games (most just odd exceptions) so it should in theory perform as well as a 480 would and if i clock it up the should be the same as an 480oc. Are there many/any games out at the moment or soon that are gonna max out the 1.2gb memory? Was really impressed with the 480 until obviously i had the problem but just seemed so smooth and would want the same performance. Not really an ATI fan had problems back in the day lol by which i mean 9550 and found drivers on Nvidia cards to be better

ooo 9550... i had the 9600 XT 256mb.....

loved that card...

anyway back on topic...

worst case

you won't be able to have quite as much AA...

thats about it...

to my knowledge..

you can run any game out at that res and maxed setting (except for AA) with 1GB of RAM...

proof of this is the old 460 SLI vs 480 argument

Welcome to the forum.. Well i have 27" 1920x1080 res monitor and reference evga gtx570 on water, no problems so fr run a lot cooler now with the water and i can run every single game maxout using aa/af to the highest value and run almost always above 60 fps ( avg fps ) 1280mb is more than enough at that res

Ps: not crysis and not metro btw

Games i play: metro, bc2, sc2, l4d2, tf2, crysis2, dirt2, nfshp, porta2, company of heroes, pes2011
