I have a question, I am on a limited budget, I am wondering if I should get a new motherboard (MSI 890FXA-GD70 or MSI 890FXA-GD65) I have ASUS M4A77T/USB3, or go with the x6 1090 or 1100, I have the x2 555BE unlocked to x4 b55 running at 3.6 1.53v around there, it is set to auto for the vcore... yes I will be overclocking to the best i can do with out frying anything.
I will be using MX4 thermal paste, I did not have a satisfying time with Arctic Silver 5 and nothing got fried.
I am also open to suggestions as to I would also later on like to try crossfire, I have not had many good experiences with ASUS motherboard

to bad its out of stock. maybe it will be back in stock. MSI doesn't have that great of vrms and pumping 1.53v on an MSI board is kinda scary. Even though it is heatsinked you never know. I wouldn't take the chance.

if not ASUS m4a89td
then

I would like to know, which one would do the best for overclocking, I can't find any comparative info on the motherboards. I like the gigabyte board, but the biostar look impressive as well, and asus well I'm a little on-edge with them again unless someone can show me otherwise... still open to ideas, I appreciate it alot

my goal with this cpu is to get as close to 4ghz as possible, 3.8ghz runs fine with bad company 2, but left 4 dead 2 doesn't really like it

Thanks again, bad_eyes

A different board won't help much, if at all, in getting a higher OC. It's all down to your CPU and to some extent, heatsink. And pairing an X6 with your current board would likely result in blown fets. MSI also has a terrible reputation for blowing VRMs so I'd be wary of buying from them.

For the time being, just wait for BD. It comes out in a month and even if you don't want a Bulldozer, it should decrease the prices of AM3 boards and CPUs.

I'd also like to add that games aren't very good for testing CPU stability. Use something like OCCT/Prime95 for at least several hours to test stability.

Okay so I've come to a decision, just need a count on which one would do better, either the ASUS CROSSHAIR IV FORMULA or the Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD5. Yes I shall give ASUS one more go if needs be. Let me know what you guys and gals think would be good. I really don't like this motherboard that I have at all and I don't think I will be doing bulldozer for a bit, let them work the "kinks" out. that is all I can afford, really keeping an eye on my money

Thanks again
