Ah yes my mistake, forgot Quad also made active speakers. Not really "a lot" in the speaker world, but probably out of his range. What B&Ws do you have?

I listened to the bigger brother of the 9L, the 12L2. Vocals sounded extremely hollow, I wouldn't recommend them.

Does swan ship to australia?

I have the 12L2 and the vocals are sublime IMO, goes to show that audio is really subjective. I compared them to B&W 685, they did sound hollow/faded when it came to vocals.

Whichever speakers you do decide to buy, try and listen to them first.

B&W has the best tweet/mid in the biz imo. I lucked out and won a pair of CDM-1NT for about $400. Made in England .. They sounded 'ok' when I first got them. Whole different animal with a musical sub and wear-in time.

Anywho, that said, I really wouldn't know where to point you for something to buy. All I know is my Tripath amp + my D38s make something amazing happen.
Yea - from what ive read - definatly gamer targeted.....

i like bass....to a point
Im used to the x530s sub (and can attach that to a 2.0 if so needed too), in my car i have destroyed 2 speakers due to liking bass a little too much i like to be able to at least feel it if i can.

agree - i also do sound engineering as i mentioned and mix with a little more bass than others do, but using ~1200w worth of FOH speakers i can do that easily - and a bass amp + 2 electric guitar amps etc etc

Edit: I am a B&W fan boy, so I love the sound of the Kevlar mid/bass anyways.

$400 is the max (absolute) - prefer less than that unless something outstanding comes from spending that much

there was a importer of Swan speakers in a suburb very close by, so i took a drive with some music and listened to some speakers - including the D1080MK II 08's
and bought them - then and there

then i listened to some $12000 speakers....yes thats the right amount of zeros...... could make a whole nightclub with them too - and no need for a sub really either.....anyhow - setting up my new toys now

connected up the sub of the X-530s too for deeper bass than the monitors allow - its turned right down so its only the boomy bassheard
