990x or SB? High loads of Programs

Thread Starter
ok so over the past 2-3 months i've been building a computer off newegg, but before i buy the big stuff MOBO,CPU,GPU, ive been reading up on whats best..suited to my personal requirements. Basically im building a computer to run multiple of the same program. i run runescape bots to farm cash and at the moment i use 3 computers only with 5 bots\\application running, 2 of these pcs have been on for over 8 months 24\\7. But running these applications hogs a large amount of CPU on my computers.

In the short run ive been reading more up on sandy bridge and others are saying its worth buying a sandy bridge vs an expensive 980-990 but im not sure about performance. im trying to get something to overclock to ATLEAST 5GHZ liquid cooled, that will run 20 bots at the minimum. But on the flip side i dont want it maxed out with just 20 running because i'd still like to play normal steam games, ect on my rig at the same time, but since im building this for bots its my main income which im more focused on money verse gaming, but i'd like the option if 20 is the max load that i can cut 5 and be able to run something like BFBC3 max settings.

Since im spending at least $2000 id like it to be the most new update technology it can be so it wont be to outdated in 1-2 years.

Heres what I plan on building as of right now

Most up to date tech is Sandybridge.
Cheaper and faster as well.
That would be your best bet and those can overclock quite far quite easily.

id go the 970 over the 990x, save a good chunk of money. for very similar performance
also you could do with a 650-750w PSU as well, no need for 1000w

If you can wait a bit longer I would suggest getting sandy bridge e as that is the replacement for 1366.

depends on the programming software you're messing if you're going to utilize windows 7 and AVX well surely get a SB platform unit..else other than that..the 990/970 is a beefy road too..

To be honest. I use to ran like 15 Bots on my 1055t. I think you can run easily 20 on i7 2600k or even on i5 since bots don't take advantage of HT. Which is the big deal on i7.

Instead of spending all that mony on 990x. Buy TWO systems with i5 and a decent Motherboard. One for 20 Bots and the other for your gaiming and like 5-10 bots while gaming. Just my two cents.

@ Renji.... Man I got my 1055t rig out of botting on my laptop. I stoped doing it 'cuz its illegal. But a friend of mine still sells stuff on RS and he makes like $200 -$400 Per freaking week! He has been a while in the business so many people know him. Thats enough for me. LOL

That's what I'm thinking, lol. And OP I would go with two i5 2500K rigs if you can afford it. Get each to 4.5ghz on a Hyper 212+. GPU wise go with what ever.
