Symptoms of not adequate power to a system?

Thread Starter
Basically I just want to know if the ONLY SYMPTOM of not enough power to a system, regardless of the quality of the power, is a system shutdown.

This is the predicament:

This PSU: XFX 650Watt
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-002-_-Product

This system:
i5 2500k 4.6ghz
p8p67 PRO
8GB G.Skill 1866Mhz 1.5v
SLI GTX 570
64GB SSD
1TB Spinpoint F3
about 12 case fans

The system is running fine but I shutdown with linx and furmark running.

Sometimes I get game crashes, all other possible instability aside:

Could this be due to insufficient power OR is the ONLY symptom of insufficient power a computer shutdown?

Short Answer: yes
650 is probably a hair low for SLI 570s and having everything overclocked.
At the very least you are close to the edge.

I certainly wouldn't say that was the only symptom. My last machine, as aged as it was, got quite similar results from it's dying psu as a bad hard disk(which is why I troubleshot? it in that fashion). Got my new machine put together, and tossed in my new psu into to old one, just to see ya know? And bamo, she fired up and chugged away fine just like she did when I got her 5 or 6 years ago.

But then again, this is kind of irrelevant, because I had sufficient power I guess, it's just it was going bad on me.

It could be, but check your overclocks.

Nvidia miniport driver got a logging function that can tell you if your gpus not getting enough power. Search for RcLogon and set it to 1. If it shuts down go in event viewer. It will you if its thermal, power or whatever reason
