I am thinking about doing this too with an SG05. I think I would use an EK dcp 2.2 and probably a t-line as the res plus the black ice gt stealth to maximize space saving. The DDC with res top looks way too tight from the pic above.

I was thinking about changing out the stock fan to this as it is a very quiet fan with good static pressure.

Also, is that some type of shroud or gasket between the radiator and the fan?

Nar thats not mine, just one of the few examples I have found as a benchmark.
I was also looking at the EK dcp 2.2, but I believe the DDC has better performance over a smaller footprint. Correct me if I'm wrong. T-lines are very convenient, and I think it would be most convenient in this case for filling, I just think the bitspower pump top looks better XD. Personal preference I guess. I'll be swapping out the fan too I think.

The following has some good mounting ideas for a 2.5' drive to get it out of the way of everything else. Uses a H70 and internally mounted fan, so will take up probably as much room as custom wc.
Miahallen really is a genius at this type of stuff.

You are absolutely correct that the DDC has higher performance than the dcp 2.2, but it is also louder. 31db vs 17db. Also, considering that there will only be one 120mm rad and less tubing overall the dcp should be more than adequate for this custom loop.

I agree though that the pump top res looks cooler. The dcp also has a nice looking res attachment that I will consider based on space.

Oh wow, I didnt realise there was that much of a noise difference. I will definately be looking at the dcp 2.2 now . Do you know of any testing of pump noise including pump tops? I imagine they may drop overall noise a little by allowing for a more laminar flow just after impeller exit.

Im imagining this entire loop could almost be completed with less than half a metre of tubing easily.

I didn't find any reviews or tests about the pump with the res tops, but there was another post about somebody wanting to silence his ddc with an xspc top. He posted a video of the noise coming from the system, but it is not really that loud.

I did find this review compairing the different tops for a ddc 3.1.

Lol, nice input guys XD

Ok, update. Ive been working on an Inventor model, but not having used it for a couple years it has taken me a little while to get anywhere. So far have a decent part for the lid and the base. Need to make sure all dimensioning is correct first though as getting dimensions from a powered on sg05 with a plastic ruler isnt the easiest.

Here is a little example of what I have done so far.

This will help with organising the case and making sure everything will fit all sweet.

Oh also, I am keeeen on the new Zotac Z68 mini-ITX. Its friggin awesome. Has everything the H55n-usb3 doesnt haha. Guess thats a good reason for a new mobo + cpu upgrade to sandy bridge eh?
