if your using it on your own rig where possible run it on stock to avoid changing any of the default setting over clocking the ram may solve the issue making it harder to determin

I dont intend to OC anything... I plan to run everything at stock... The 955 is on the supported list...

It won't operate again untill you reset the cmos?
And ye think its the ram?

If the ram was dodgy, then resetting the bios wouldn't do anything unless you've changed the options in the first place.
Recently its just been crashing, and I leave it for a while and it works again... I havent reset the cmos in awhile..

If you suspect it may be the ram why not try using the memory in your machine (None good memory) in it. See if it does the same?

Check the Voltage in the BIOS is set to the correct voltage for the sticks you have.

Also maybe worth checking your Temps in the BIOS.

Ok
Tried each stick separately in my computer... My computer would POST or anything (just turned on, fans etc but nothing happened)
I then tried one of my sticks into the new motherboard, the same long beeps happened...
Any other ideas?

This is the ram: http://www.a-ram.com/ProductDetails....TW4GB1600C9D3I
Funny that it lists the 965 & 975 but not the 955...
Ill try set all that in bios now.

Ok now with the A-Ram back into the new computer... I have reset the cmos but its still doing that long beeps...
Could it be the CPU? How would I tell?

The power supply is fine maybe if he was trying to SLI 9800gt's. I would definitely try testing each of your RAM sticks one at a time. One unstable ram stick can cause the entire system to be unstable. It could also be the temps of your computer being to high, incorrect TIM spread or maybe a dead heat pipe or two, your cooler could also be seated wrong.

I actually bought my laptop used, and the radiator was FULL of dust. Idling around 75-80c, it would always shut down and it would not let me reboot for about 10-15 minutes. Hopefully you get some results! InerTia*

Temps when I looked in bios were around 35 degrees... I replaced the stock TIM with Artic Silver

Another update...

Was in bios setting the volts and what not for the ram and it now freezes in bios... Completely freezes... Keyboard not longer responds and the only way to get out is to restart...

Edit... Just went into bios again and it froze... And then random digits flashed randomly on the screen... I turned it off...

I'd double check all TIM applications, could be a bad application in a location that doesn't show a temp. This is why I always boot stock before reapplying TIM.

Hmm I think bios has shat it self...

I turned it on again after setting all the volts, timming etc to what the ram is... And now its sitting in startup and it says:

"verifiying DMI pool data....... AMD Data change... Undate New Data to DMI!... Begin to update Backup Bios to latest version... Writing Bios Image........................."

And its been sitting there like this for a few minutes... It also flashed some random digits across the screen while sitting there like this (this is not in bios... actually wait one Ill take a photo)

LOL! If you've got any CD's or Card Reader's or anything plugged in, take 'em out. Also if more than the HDD you're trying to install Windows on, unplug any others.
Reset CMOS and load default values, make sure the HDD you wanna load is on the Boot order, second only to the DVD Drive.

If all else fails, you probably need to re-flash it, something's smegged it up.

Didn't quite get this, you tried the cheapo RAM in your PC and it didn't Boot properly?

Also, try your RAM in your mate's PC, just to rule it out that way, RAM can do all kinda messed up stuffs.

[EDIT:] Also try downclocking that cheapo RAM to 1100 or 1333 in the BIOS if you can get that far, see if that helps?

My computer (sig rig) wouldnt boot with one of his sticks in it... It would turn on, fans etc, but no beeps no display nothing...

My sticks in his computer would just get the long continous beeping...

Im at wits end with this... Tonight when i get home from work Im going to pull the whole thing appart again and try again.

One random question... The motherboard back plate (you know the thin sheet metal plate with holes in it for all the sockets) In order to get the motherboard in it was a real tight fit? Could one of the bendable bits be shorting out something maybe?

Im thinking when i get home Im gonna set up the motherboard just sitting on the static bag and run it like that.

Ok small update.

This morning when I left for work I turned the computer on again and it booted into vista, I then got it install the ATI drivers and went to work leaving it on...

To my surprise it was still on when I got home, I restarted (as the drivers had finished installing) and it restarted fine and so now at least I have a decent resolution...

I thought maybe its fixed itself... So ran Prime... Withint a minute one of the workers stopped with an error... Followed shortly after by a full system freeze...

So its not fixed...

However at work today I was reading up some and read that a AMD 955 memory controller can only take 1333, and only 1066 if all the slots are occupied... The two slots (this board only has two) are occupied so I have just now dropped the ram speed down to 1066... Im gonna give it a run in Prime now...

One question... Prime blend test... The first thing it stresses is the ram is it not?

Ok just did a Prime... Worker 2 had a failure one minute in so I stopped all the workers... However the computer did not freeze up...
