990X 8 hours prime stable, To easy?

Hi! So I thought Id try for a prime stable OC! It just seems to easy like all I did was change the Vcore, I havent changed QPI or anything else.

Attachment 212291

Is this normal? I mean 8 hours is pretty stable and I thought that I would have to change QPI?

Any thoughts?

Thanks, Sir Overkill.

That's legit. My 980x is a dream to oc also. Doesn't seem to want a jump in voltage until 4.4.

well with multi overclocking you dont need to adjust the qpi nearly as much as you do with fsb overclocking. But it looks great. I would continue to prime for 12 hours though atleast. Ive had blend fail right @ the 12 hour mark.

Run some IBT too afterwards to make sure it's stable of atleast 20 passes of Linpack.

Yeah but I thought id have to atleast change Vtt/Qpi to get it stable, is that more important for like 4.8-5.0Ghz Vantage runs and wat not?

Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks, Sir Overkill.

Yeah I will do more i needed to go to bed though it was like 11am!
About the Qpi that does make sense but why would people need to change the Bclk when everything is unlocked?

Hi Sir Overkill......I am in the process of OC my 990X. It looks like I finally have it fully stable with all cores staying active. I had an OC for a while I thought was totally stable, since it didn't BSOD. However it became apparent that some cores were shutting down to keep it stable, rather than BSOD. You should run prime and coretemp, and make sure that ALL cores stay at 100% load in Prime.

I am currently at 4.6GHz with no HT, since it's a gaming machine. Vcore is at 1.41v, QPI/VTT is at 1.3v, CPU PLL is at 1.26v, QPI PLL is at 1.28v. Clock is 200 bclk x 23. Ram is at 2000MHz 9-9-9-24 @ 1.6v. Temps idle at around 33c and max out at 67c during a long prime95.

However, the above OC was 100% stable (so it seemed) with a 1.35v Vcore, but like I say above the cores were shutting down. To keep ALL cores active during a 10hr Prime I had to bump it up to 1.41v.

I will reckon I will be able to get some lower temps when i try lowering the other voltages one by one.
