Too simplistic.

The whole point of the Ninja (to me) is that the forward printing negates the fading of the print with use. Also, I thought the Ninja was a Majestouch 2 board, which removed the coating on the keys.

I don't like the idea of the keys getting shiny, but I don't think that's a deal breaker for me. I like the design of the Filco better, and I'm fairly convinced that the little bit more money is worth it (for me).

Anyone know when they will be available in the US?

The product page is there but it is not available and has no price:

I don't think I've ever seen a Filco with faded keys. Shiny keys yes. Sometimes keys that have the coating scratched off by fingernails.

Never faded keys though.

My KBC PBT spacebar is starting to get shiny too. 2 months.

I've seen pictures of 3 year old Filcos and the lettering still looks exactly the same as my brand new Filco

It's been a couple months now. Have the browns on the Leopold softened up at all?

Edit: Crap wrong thread!

If anyone is interested, I've had the Filco for about a week now, and I really really like it.

The switches are SO much nicer feeling to type on, I was actually instantly taken aback when I typed on it (never touched a mechanical previously). My only gripe is that I have to adjust to the layout, and the brown switches are softer than I anticipated. I make more errors on this keyboard than my crappy rubber domes I use. I assume that will work itself out with practice.

At first the keys grabbed my fingers, which was very annoying, but now the surface has softened a bit and it is no longer bothersome. That was going to be a dealbreaker for me.

I'm pretty happy with this, and hope it lasts a long, long time.

Did you end up getting the tenkeyless version of the ninja?

There have been complaints of ringing/pinging noises on geekhack, just wanted to see what your thoughts are.

What do you mean by the keys grabbed your fingers? I'm interested in this.

I made a lot of errors when i got mine with black switches too. It definitely goes away with practice.

Now all the errors I make are because i can't spell, lol.

Yes, and to be honest, I'm not so sure about it. The small form factor is great, but I miss my keypad and the layout change is throwing me off, even though the keys are really all in the same places.

Maybe describe the issue a bit more, I haven't used other mechs, but no ring/pinging I can pick up on, and I have pretty sensitive hearing. The only thing I hear is click click click click click clack wink.gif

The key caps were very smooth. My hands are never really dry, but not clammy. When I typed on the new keys, my finger would make a rubbing like it was sticking (instead of smoothly sliding) to the key surface as I pulled off the key laterally. Not sticky like tacky, but like if your hands are not dry and you try to rub your finger on a really clean glass surface, your finger skips or jumps as you drag it. Something very small but easily perceptible. It was the first thing I noticed, and I was instantly about to return it.

I don't think I've gotten used to it - I think it has lessened/disappeared.
