[Softpedia] AMD Bulldozer Retail Availability Postponed to Q3 2011 – Report - Page 6

I hope this isn't true. If it is, AMD's new chips won't be able to compete. Intel will already have their next iteration out, and all AMD can do is drop prices on a chip they JUST released. This isn't looking good.

This rumor uses the original Sweclockers article. I would hardly believe the credibility of this article. As it stands this Rumor is Disinformation at its best.

If this is true, this could pretty devastating news for AMD. Intel is releasing Ivy Bridge in Q1 2012.

And no, don't mention Sandy Bridge-E: Bulldozer isn't competing with that, even if the author of the article is clueless enough to say it is. Sandy Bridge-E is an Enthusiast platform; Sandy Bridge and Bulldozer are Performance platforms.

Won't Enhanced BD compete with Ivy?

I need to get rid of this mobo
Only reason I haven't already done so is because I'm waiting for BD

Yes it will. However AMD will be releasing higher clocked variants of Zambezei in Q4 2011.

Yes, but if this is delayed, why wouldn't Enhanced Bulldozer be? AMD is typically six months to a year behind Intel when it comes to process nodes, and Ivy Bridge will feature new transistors that reduce power consumption and die size area, as well. If Enhanced Bulldozer is to compete with Ivy Bridge, it'll be some 6+ months after Ivy Bridge is released and AMD is able to get good 22nm yields, or a bit after Ivy Bridge is released but AMD will have to stay with 32nm.

Lets not start another flame war most people including myself were just comparing intels latest to amd's latest as competing against each other regardless weather or not they were enthusiast platforms. Of course amd is not aiming that high with bulldozer but it's all amd has! for now
