New Computer Build
So guys, I've been working on a build for a few weeks now, and I would like some input if you know anything about computers

If you guys have any suggestions, I'm willing to spend as much as $2400

----Any specs marked with a "?" is what I need help with----

Here are the specs:
Azza Hurricane 2000 Case (Corsair Obsidian 800D or Cooler Master HAF X?)
12 in Cold Cathode Blue Interior Light(s)
Crosair Professional Series 850W 80 plus gold PSU (Or 1,000W?)
Intel Core i7 960 @ 3.2 GHZ (Or wait for the next chipset?)
12GB 2,000 MHZ-DDR3 Corsair Dominator GT RAM (1,600 v 1,800 v 2,000 MHZ?)
EVGA GTX 580 1.5 GB GPU (Perhaps step up to the 590/ Wait for the GTX 600 series?)
Asus Sabertooth X58 Motherboard (Or Gigabyte G1 Series?)
1TB SATA-III 6.0Gb/s 64MB Cache 7200RPM HDD (Or WD Velociraptor 10,000RPM HDD?)
Asetek 510LC Liquid Cooling System w/ 120MM Radiator-Fan (Or Corsair A/H70?) ==Which is better Air/Liquid?==
250 GB Corsair SSD "500MB/s read; 380MB/s (For OS/Games)

That is a nice setup, you should consider a 590 if you're throwing all that money away, and good luck!

P.S. WOAH THIS IS THE BEST NEWS ALL DAY!

I like performance over style in terms of my computer parts, I recommend the Haf932 or X. Amazing stock cooling and very large.

If you dont plan on adding a 2nd GPU then the 850watt should be enough. If you want future proof then get 1000w.

The 960 is fine if its around the $200 price range. All of the i7 930-960 overclock pretty well. 4ghz shouldnt be an issue.

With ram you only really need as much as you work with, Meaning if you do a lot of virtualization, programs that store a lot of memory to ram then go with 12. For me I have never even needed 6. So if you want get 6gigs of ram 1600mhz. Ram is one of the dumbest things to overspend on....That and CPU!

Me personally the 580 is still overpriced. You can find two gtx480's online for the same price and that would almost be double the performance. I honestly would get a 6990 which isnt that much more than a gtx580.

Asus and gigabytes are among the two best motherboard, Evga as well...

I like having a raptor for the windows drive + gaming and have a 1tb = movies/music etc.... SSD's in my opinion is like getting the Extreme processor...Not worth the cost and your only shaving seconds off...Im waiting for the real deal SSD tech to come that has no degradation in performance and has a lot more storage for a lot less price....

I have the corsair h50, No issues sad that the h70 came out after i bought mine, Regardless to me it was just fun to install but some of the best air coolers do very well, As long as the heat gets pushed outside ur case its fine. Even with my setup, My CPu never goes above 50c and with my GPU's never go above 80c. All my stuff together cost less than $1500...Craigslist is your friend

I love how this guy asks for help and all these idiots just cry about his posting...U guys seriously are just a bunch of whiny virgin kids that need to grow up. NO offence to the whiny virgin kids that need to grow up....

The Obsidian and HAF X are both great cases, although they are on opposite ends of the style spectrum. I believe the 800D is larger, and is a good watercooling case. The HAF X is a good air or watercooling case. The 850W PSU should be fine. 1000W would be overkill. As for the CPU, there already is the next chipset. I would advise going with a Sandy Bridge chip or waiting to see how Bulldozer does. For the RAM, 12GB is kind of overkill as well, unless your going to be doing a lot of Photoshop or CAD or similar resource intensive programs. The 580 will be plenty for any game currently. Asus and Gigabyte both make good motherboards, so either should be fine, although like I said, Sandy Bridge is Intel's newest CPU. For an HDD, look at the Samsung Spinpoint F3s or the Hitachi's. The Samsungs are a little faster but the Hitachis are cheaper. Don't bother with a raptor if you're getting an SSD. As for cooling, an H70 would be a good choice, although I believe a few air coolers such as the Silver Arrow or NH-D14 will slightly outperform the H70.

Go with the Coolmaster Haf X but also take a look at the Fractal Define R3 as they are really nice cases for the price.

Intel i7 2600K
ASUS maximus IV
corsair vengence 8GB or Dominator GT 8GB 2000mhz
ASUS 580GTX (or wait for ASUS 580GTX MATRIX which is coming soon)
corsair 1000W (for more efficiency)
Corsair 800D (If water cooling)
cooler master haf-X (if AIR cooling)

OR if u not like this
then wait 2-3months more for INTEL X79 platform which is extreme
we never see the extreme like this

but if u still go with X58 and i7 960 CPU
then this is completely wrong build

TAKE MY ADVISE ( SANDY BRIDGE or INTEL X79 next platform)
BIG NO FOR X58 and i7 960

It's a solid build, some things to consider:

1000w PSU is probably going to be unnecessary for that build--even the 850w would probably be overkill

The i7-960 is a good CPU, but if you're not going to go with Sand Bridge (and even if you are), you might want to consider holding off buying this system (or at least this CPU/mobo) until after AMD releases Bulldozer (I'm assuming it would drive down prices, at least a little).
