[1up] Square Enix To Announce New MMO - Page 4

Agreed that everything after 10 was ****.

I really really really really don't understand why they haven't done the remake for 7.
They would have made so much money, it just doesn't make sense in the least.

As much as I love Square and their games, it's no secret that they're struggling to release quality titles on PS3/360 in a timely manner. Final Fantasy VII would surely be yet another big budget project thrown atop the pile, which will most likely fail to meet the unrealistically high expectations.

People will say that they want the exact same game with HD graphics, but I honestly don't expect most folks to be satisfied with a simple facelift, let alone any changes they may wish to implement. Square is unfortunate enough to have one of the most split fanbases of all time.

I owned XI upon release and was very much not impressed over the time that I had stuck it out. I even had a friend that I played with. I watched world populations drop, so I assumed I was not alone with my impressions.

I activated my account for a month a few years later and was still disappointed in it.

How are we gauging very successful? Has it improved drastically since then?

Number of players and revenue. For what it was, it did well. However, after nearly ten years they're finally starting to merge underpopulated servers.

I played it from launch til early 2009 and enjoyed my time with the game. It wasn't remotely similar to World of Warcraft, which is why it's surprising that the game lasted as long as it has in a post-WoW world.

I enjoyed XI for about 6 months, and XIV BETA, but for me I just don't have the time to commit. XI required full on parties to complete quests and I just couldn't get it together. GW then won me over and I'll never try another MMO. GW2 is where my <3 is at.

This x1000. I've been waiting years. I just want GOOD QUALITY JRPGs from Square again. Who cares if the mainstream doesn't like them.

FFXI and FFXII were amazing..... Two games XIV should have learned from before having to take members from FFXI to fix the MESs that is XIV. In all honesty, XIV should have had some XI team members to begin with and been released this holiday season instead of rushed out. Except with Naoki Yoshida the whole time instead

FF7 remake would have to be absolutely perfect to not discredit the original design. People don't realize how much harder it is to withstand Turn BAsed and random encounters nowadays. The memory and nostalgia seems better than it actually is. At least for someone who has played turn based for years, i'm friggin sick of it for the most part. 7 might be an acception to some extent

FF XII was amazing, especially the gameplay ! Too bad allot of people didn't recognize that. I actually didn't like it for the first hour then realized how stellar it is. It's has one of the best RPG gameplay mechanics i've seen in a long time. BEing able to control 3 characters at once with an extra 4th guest at times.

It didn't get such high scores or recognition from famitsu for nothing.

Too bad it didn't have some sappy love story where emo kids cry all over eachother because of their lost loves... Maybe people would have liked it better ^_-
