[1up] Square Enix To Announce New MMO - Page 5

I must be the only one, but I loved FF XIII. Got more than 100 hours on it, and I only stopped because of a dead PoS 3.
The FF XIII-2 announcement made me a very very happy FF fan.

However, I hated FF XIV. I was waiting for it so bad, but when I finally got into the beta I felt... almost betrayed. Still, I love Eorzea and I think the mood of the game (graphics + style) is awesome. The gameplay is simply disgusting and that's the problem.

Anyways, I don't want any new MMO from Square right now. I want them to fix FF XIV. I trust NCsoft when I want good MMOs anyways (LOVED Lineage II... I miss the game so much! I just don't have the time to play it anymore).

I'm sorry to go off-topic, but I'm too curious at this point. Why are there so many Little Pony avatars? Is there some inside joke I'm missing?

I wish I could get my 80 bucks back for my CE of FF14.

This will explain it. Their fandom is real and undying.

Not at all. I actually hated XII, and felt that XIII took baby steps in the right direction. It never quite got there, but I still really enjoyed it. If they can take Final Fantasy XII's level design (its only redeeming quality) and drop it into what they had going with XIII, I'd be extremely happy.

XIII-2 sounds like it will address many complaints fans had with XIII, but Versus XIII is what I really have my eye on.

Quote:
Players will find a big world map with vast fields where they will be able to explore as far as the eye can reach, except for the mountains. Nomura says the game is not open, but is more like the 2D Final Fantasy games in HD and in third person view. The player will be able to drive a car and fly airships just like in older Final Fantasy titles too.
Not to mention the setting and style look absolutely amazing. It reminds me a bit of Final Fantasy VIII in that modern (aside from certain locations, which were a tad more futuristic) mixed with fantasy, though VIII leaned more towards fantasy.

The combat looks good, big fan of Kingdom Hearts. It's also been confirmed in the TGS 2010 trailer that you can switch between party members.

All in all, it's the Final Fantasy game I've been dreaming of ever since X. Cannot wait! Type-0 also looks really promising.

The Japanese have to freaking understand one thing.. It's that their way of thinking and making games does not translate into an MMO game that western people, in general, appreciate and want to play. Their understanding of socialization and community in the MMO genre is so lacking you might aswell put it at the wolfenstein 3D stage of gaming evolution..... yet they still persist with this foolish nonsense... idiots

They don't like things like voice chat and love the grind apparently.

Dont care. Give it up, give us a remake of ff7,ff3 or xenogears. They have such a huge list of games they can draw from. Why square? All you have to do is remake any one of the classics that made you great but you insist on this mmo...

Listen to your loyal fanbase. You continue to ignore us and you will find that many of us just wont care anymore

Final Fantasy XI was one of the most community-driven MMOs I've ever played. Just about every aspect of the title was designed around groups and socializing, to the point where being alone meant accomplishing nothing.

There also weren't any regional servers. People from all around the world played on the same servers together. I don't know how common that is now, but Final Fantasy XI was the first time that I was surrounded by North American, Japanese and European players on a daily basis. What's more, the language barrier was quite easy to overcome thanks to the translation feature. You could actually communicate and organize events with one another without understanding a bit of their language.

In my time with World of Warcraft and the various other MMOs that have come and gone, I actually felt lonely because they were such a departure from the type of community that I was used to. Don't think for a second that Eastern MMOs don't have an audience in the West.

Square has caught untold amounts of crap for remaking and re-releasing their classics. You make it sound like pleasing their "loyal" fanbase is so easy. At this point, it's so divided that I doubt they could ever redeem themselves in the fans' eyes.

Plus, you can expect Final Fantasy V and VI (III) remakes on the Nintendo 3DS. The former was planned for the DS, but when the 3DS was announced they decided to wait and reconsider where to put their resources. There's an unnamed Final Fantasy game in the works for the 3DS and I'm willing to bet that it's Final Fantasy V.
