Where to buy these screws?

Thread Starter
I was wondering where I could buy the motherboard screws that hold the chipset heatsinks down. It is a little black screw with a spring attached to it. Sorry I dont have a picture but they should be the same for a wide variety of motherboards. I have a Rampage II Gene board so anyone with an ASUS motherboard should hopefully know what screws I am talking about.

I was replacing my TIM and as I was tightening the screw, it snapped in half and part of the screw stayed in the socket.

You should try at a local hardware store or go to any computer shop,as they might have some spare screws lying around...
The springs prevent you from over tightening i think...so try and get them also..

Hey there, you're probably talking about these screws?

These would be called NorthBridge Heatsink Screws and sadly there's no guarantee that every motherboard manufacturer uses the same exact NB heatsink.

I havent seen these sold separately anywhere

I would try and contact ASUS to see if they can mail you some... but if not, then try ebay-ing a broken board and taking its screws off.

Good luck!
