Aion, just about the most pedestrian MMORPG ever made.

Westernization isn't a priority for NCSoft, never has been. When you can get millions of Koreans/Asians to subscribe to your game no matter how slow/grindy/imbalanced it is (they call it "hardcore" over there apparently), why bother redesigning the game for westerners and filling it with interesting content? That's just extra work for NCSoft and isn't worth the small number of US players it'll drag in.
Aion already had massive server merges for NA servers due to every server practically being a ghost town.

I played it at launch, and quit due to the bots back then and the fact the server couldn't handle the abyss fortress fights without crashes and 2-5 FPS with all player models turned off lol.

It had good points though, I just think for me with APB being free and playing eve then I'll probably try Conan when thats free to play.. would need a hell of a patch to lure me back, and that doesn't grab me.

Very tempted to give this another shot during the 10 day free trial thing!

No MMO is worth $15 a month unless you like wasting your day away and throwing money with it. Aion looked awesome back before launch and then the reviews came out. I didn't waste my time or money. There were much better options. Problem is, that if games don't make a good launch they usually never recover.

Really? I always thought MMO meant massively multiplayer online game. What part of that implies grinding?

I played the game until a month before 1.9 came out. (i played for 3 months or so)

It was pretty fun, but the community was lacking... It felt like the environment of the game wasn't fit for westerners (or they didn't adapt to it). Servers were also dead, i had a 50 Glad and had to camp the abyss all day to do a little PvP since most people in my server played the game for roleplayinginmarket purposes.

There was some hacking, but nothing on a major scale other than well known cheaters. The factions were unbalanced (but since i like hard games it was pretty fun beating elyos while being outnumbered 1:2.5).

Anyways, after L50 i found myself PvP grinding AP's for the PVP gear for weeks until i just decided to quit since it was impossible on such a server and i had to look for hours to get into a good fight.

I don't know about now (after the drops increase) but the most frustrating part was doing one instance almost 400 times and never getting a drop.
