Your opinion?

Hey all,

I'm curious what you think about this board

http://www.msi.com/product/mb/P67A-GD80--B3-.html

I always read so much negative about MSI boards here, but as far as I can tell, they offer the most bang for your buck, and I absolutely love their design, really is awesome.

All opinion's are greatly appreciated, but please don't just say it sucks or rules, go abit more indepth.

Thanks
Valkyrie

First, I have read all the reviews I can find, but reviews seem very subjective to me.
And I can't really see any real advantage gained from going Z68 over P67, other than the onboard gpu, which seems completely useless to me, but I could very well be wrong, it happens...

Are there any other advantages to be gained, apart from the onboard gpu, from going Z68?

You lose QuickSync for significantly faster transcoding with one of the best qualities.

You lose SRT/SSD Caching (a good idea for a 20GB or less SSD paired up with our typical HDDs).

iGPU for diagnostic purposes. <-- Just my guess. You'll never know when your GPU may broke.. at least you have some iGPU in the process of RMA-ing ur discrete video card.. Kinda like an insurance.

You need 20GB or less? That's a rather small capacity?

'Don't know about others but I think I would disregard that benefit simply because it limits you to really small SSD capacities price notwithstanding.

iGPU - I think this is the interesting part of SB especially Z68 boards since you can overclock and only the Z68 boards that offer the iGPU feature.

I am wondering about the use of discrete cards, though. The feature includes some sort of hybrid/dual use?

Can you use them together?

Regardless, I think the iGPU is pretty interesting even if you don't intend for it to be your permanent video solution.

I was thinking about getting a P67 mobo, though, only because of price. I thought maybe a low power but decent ATI card would go with it but it's another expense.
