HP power through MOBO ...

I don't know if this has been brought up before but I guess this is as good a place as any to discuss it.

I work in the IT field with a company that uses HP machines and our latest order was HP 8100 workstations and as I was pulling out the HDD to clone it for the other machines I noticed something different. The psu that comes in the case is 360w max and only has 2 bundles of wires coming from it, a 4 pin connector and a 6 pin connector, NO ATX no anything else. The motherboard has 3 4 pin connectors where IDE would normally be and from there separate wires power the DVD drive and HDD.

I haven't seen a replacement for this type of PSU on newegg or anything and just didn't know if this was going to become the trend. Also I feel it is important to note that from the label on the side of the PSU is appears that this psu has 3 12v rails and no info for 3.3 or 5v.

Hey, we have HP/Compaq 8100 workstations here too... I don't think I ever opened one but I should probably peek in.
Do the connectors look like http://www.playtool.com/pages/psucon...ors.html#oldpc though? I believe I heard a similar report a while ago and the connectors looked like that.

Nope, these look just like what you would plug into your GFX card.
