So I have this FX6860 by Gateway where the screen doesn't light up and is very faint. So of course the first thing that comes to mind is an inverter issue, that didn't solve it. Changed screens, still the same problem. So all that is left is to replace the motherboard, but the mobo's for this laptop go for over 180 bucks on ebay since it has the 8800M GPU. My question is, since I really have nothing left to lose, should I try to heatgun the GPU area? It seems to be a problem with the motherboard giving power to the inverter. Any suggestions?

Also, if this fails, you're welcome to buy the mobo off of me.
