Strong correlation between these "My Ducky/Razer/Steelseries/Das lasered keys have faded" posts and the results of my solvent tests.

Link.

Sweat IS a solvent. Ducky thread here (now locked).

But yah, I don't recommend alchohol for cleaning Filcos. Either does the OCN Mechanical Keyboard Guide.

Lasered keys in general look that way.

PBT gets worse.

Lasered Ducky PBT keys.

I think it's some chemical reaction with the spooge infill.

Thanks!

I could see where 2 linear Cherry stabilizers could mask the tactile feed back of a MX tactile switch but that wouldn't be the case on a MX linear switch.

Logic tells me that cherry stabilizers would "stiffen" the key but in the OP's case of using MX reds, for the spacebar anyway, that would seem to offset the increased mass of the key and make it feel more like the rest of the non stabilized reds.

I believe the Filco uses a single switch (red - FKBN104MR/EB2) in the space bar with a wire stabilizer (please correct me if I am wrong). It would seem that the additional mass of the key would make the space bar "lighter" than the rest of the non stabilized reds.

IDK, maybe the mass is so small that it isn't a large factor. Or maybe we expect the "stabilized" keys to feel "different" than the non stabilized ones.

I would agree. We both have seen laser infills that didn't stain anywhere near as quickly as the Ducky's are. I think they didn't use enough infill. It barely covers the bottom of the laser cut and leaves the infill surface very rough and easy to trap dirt/sweat. If they added some more to it and "filled up" the cut and formed a smooth surface on the infill, then at least it wouldn't "trap" dirt/sweat so much. It still might have a chemical reaction. though.

It almost looks like they are using a keycap material that turns white when lased.

None of my Filcos ping unless I hold the back of them up to my ear.

My solution is to not type with the keyboard held up to my ear.

More ergonomic too.

The Tenkeyless Leopolds are available here.

Huh, the JUST sold out of the lettered version. Only Cherry Brown Blank version left.

Oh yeah, the other difference is the Leopold is 18KRO over USB where the Filco is 6KRO over USB.
