2x6850 + 500Watt?

All reviews I read specify that the maximum power drawn from 2x6850 SYSTEM are about 390Watt, will a Cooler Master 500Watt PSU be enough to power these up?

A Cooler Master PSU, probably not. Those are actually relabeled 350W-400W units and will blow up if you go past their limits.

If you want to power to Radeon HD 6850s reliably and for a low cost, I recommend you get an Antec NEO ECO 620C. It has great internal components and won't break a sweat with two 6850s, many peripherals, and an OCed CPU.

Looks like you need to upgrade mate frown.gif I'd recommend a 750 or even a 650Watt, CPU + everything else in your system will make you over your 500W limit frown.gif

What about HEC / OCZ? The one you posted is not available in my country.

I was looking into the same question recently. I even bought the watt meter to see how much I consume with my current build and with only one 6850. I concluded that my Corsair HX650 won't be able to make it with 2x6850. I am pretty sure 500 Watt PSU is not enough for 2 cards. Imo 750 is the lowest possible and you prolly will have to avoid oveclocking in this case.

Check the online deals forum, there are some good deals on PSUs posted

6850 x 2 can run on 550-600W (good brand/model of course). You guys are grossly overestimating the power consumption of 6850's. They barely use more power than 5770's.

Two stock 6850's consume less power than one GTX 470 according to Guru3D. If you OC heavily, a 600W will run 6850 easily. A high quality 550W can run 6850 CF too.

Recommend a 650watt

No, that's wrong. Your Corsair HX650 has great internals and will handle a Radeon HD 6870 CrossFire with your OCed CPU just fine. FYI, you shouldn't trust information from your power meter alone, as it tells you the power consumption at the wall. To see what the PSU really needs to output, you need to calculate taking into account its efficiency.

Two Radeon HD 6850s at full load consume around 260W, a heavily OCed Core i5 (first gen) will consume around 175W at full load, and for peripherals that's 50W. That's a total of around 485W at the wall, or 412W taking into account 85% efficiency. Your current PSU won't break a sweat, but the OP's will, because in reality it's a low quality rebadged 350-400W PSU.

Hope that helps.

You should fill your info so we can know what country you're from. That way, we can make better recommendations. HEC is mostly crap; OCZ is either just adequate or good depending on which model series you're looking at. Their StealthXStream and GameXStream PSUs are only adequate, but their high-end ZX series.
