Yet another GA-X58A-UD3R + i7 950 overclock

Hi,

My skill in OCing is low so i have turned to you pros at this forum hoping you could please help me fix / solve this problem that i'm having. As you can see from the thread i have :
- mobo : GA-X58A-UD3R BIOS FF rev 1.3 ( even thou on the mobo itself says it's rev 2.0 .....)
- proc : i7 950 @ 3.07 GHz
- cooling : noctua NH-D14
- memory : Kingston HyperX DIMM XMP Kit 6GB ( 3x 2GB ) PC3-12800U @ 9-9-9-27
- case : antec 1200

Basically i have followed many guides and videos on OCing my i7 so my first steps were following ( in this step i didn't OCed the RAM i left it stock 9-9-9-27 ) :

fotografija0088.jpg

After this setting my results in Prime95 were following ( using middle option maximum heat, power consumption... ) :

forumfi.jpg

I SERIOUSLY THINK MY CORES SHOULDN'T REACH ALMOST 100 C AND A THERMAL STATUS ERROR, so i decided i will test something else, like going with 175x23 and also OCing the RAM ( going from 1600 MHz @ 9-9-9-27 to 1400 @ 8-8-8-22 the results seemed ok ( i think so wink.gif )

So if I round up the results in 1st step my temperatures shouldn't reach 100 C with noctua cooling, but if I wanted to reach 4.2 Ghz do u guys have any suggestions what setting/voltage should i change that my temps wouldn't be so high confused.gifconfused.gif. Nevertheless i think i did good job at the end but have two more question : 1st is RAM OC, how much of a difference are the timings and MHz ? I have some basics that MHz should be high and timings low smile.gif, but does that really effect anything ( between 1600mhz and 1400 )? the 2nd is about XS bench in program realtemp, what if the results aren't bellow 9 seconds and what do the seconds even mean ??
I'm looking forward to your answers and help regarding OCing

Yes it does run stable, tested it with 14 hours of prime95 with all 3 settings small ftts, large ffts and blend and i recieved no errors or BSODs. The highest temps were 82 Celsius.
There is 1 more question, should i enable back those power saving settings in BIOS.

You can try them individually and run it like that for 24 - 48 hours just doing your normal activity to make sure it doesnt crash.

But I never have, If I am going to be away from my compute for a long period I put it to sleep to save power..

PS Welcome to oc.net, go here http://www.overclock.net/specs.php?do=addsystem and add your system information so it shows in your sig.... Makes it easier to offer assistance.
