Solved: Gigabyte GTX 560 Ti & AC Xtreme Plus - fan problems

Good afternoon,

Last night I attempted to fit a Arctic Xtreme Plus to my GTX 560 Ti using the VR005 kit. Everything went well until I plugged it back into the PC... the fans didnt spin. frown.gif

I then had a look at the Windforce 2x (stock cooling for this 560 Ti) fan plug pin config and compared it to the AC fan plug pin config and I think I found the problem.

Im doing this from memory (Im at work) so bear with me

Windforce 2x:
4 pins - 2 sets of wires from each fan into each pin
1 Black
2 Red
3 Yellow
4 Yellow

AC Xtreme Plus
4 Pins - single wires into each pin
1 Blue
2 Yellow
3 Black
4 Red

I understand that red = +12v, black = grd, yellow = Fan speed sensor and blue= PWM control.

What is confusing me is where the blue and yellow should go?? confused.gif

Can anyone suggest a wiring solution to enable me to use the PWM features on the AC cooler please?

If all else fails, I guess I can just run them at 100% using the red and black.

Note: the GTX 560 Ti is working as I fitted the Windforce cooler back and checked it. The AC is working as I checked it on my old GTX 470.

Thanks folks, any help appreciated

Ive solved this one.

I re-pinned the Arctic Xtreme Plus fan lead to:

1 - Black
2 - Red
3 - Yellow
4 - Blue

It now works as advertised with the PMW function restored.

Temps are impressive.

1005/2010 clocks @ 1.025v
Using OCCT: Ambient 22c, idle 27c load 67c
Folding: Ambient 22c, idle 27c load 56c (WU 6800)

With Stock cooler (Windforce 2x)
Using OCCT: Ambient 22c, idle 28c load 86c
Folding: Ambient 22c, idle 28c load 63c (WU 6800)

Please note with the Gigabyte 560 Ti SOC, the fan header is near the video outputs of the card. So you need to lengthen the fan cable to reach.

Using the VR005 kit, the ram heat sinks are a little snug against the mounting plate. Ive found it best to apply the cooler before the adhesive sets, so you have some wriggle room. You can then move them back into position after the cooler is on.

I hope this helps anyone attempting to use this cooling solution.

Addit: Ive managed to up the clocks to 1030 / 2060 @ 1.05v. Stable on OCCT and Folding. Very impressed. smile.gif

I'd love to get a cooler for my GTX 560 ti. But that artic cooling cooler is way way to massive for such a small card.

I have a Arctic Accelero Xtreme Plus cooler on my GTX 580, and love it. Work great, and quiet too. I recommend it to all.
