GTX 560Ti MSI Frozr II or III Hawk? - Page 3

The overall amount of money I spend will depend on the sale of a SATA III controller (new) and my old card.

I'm estimating £220, really. (Overall, not from the sales LOL)

I would like to go to Nvidia, my time with AMD has been pretty bad with issues on games like Bulletstorm and Brink.

I'm still open to ideas - but thanks to everyone for the help so far. You're all so friendly lol, as I should remenber from my SSD shenanigans from earlier this year wink.gif

i've had 1 amd card before, the 4890, and to be honest i had no problems with drivers at all, maybe i was lucky! end of the day, i'm pretty happy i switched back to nvidia, i had a 470 till just a couple of days ago, now i'm waiting on my 570. the 470 was pretty sweet despite the heat and power drainage. cuda and physx are definitely worth sticking to the green side, well, not so 'green' on energy, but you get what i mean biggrin.gif

for £220, it's not really enough for a 570 at the moment, lowest i can find is about £240 including shipping.

kinda depends on what resolution you game at really, at 1080p 1gb of vram on a 560ti might struggle with high aa/af with certain games. 570 would be a better choice at 1080p, but by how much i'm not sure. you can read around in this thread, might help you decide whether to get the 560 or save up another 20 quid ish for a 570 wink.gif

That is a good price for an MSI 570... but I'm sort of leaning towards a high-ish 560Ti because it is very overclockable, and runs very cold (MSI Hawk II version)

You'll absolutely love the MSI GTX 560 Hawk - it's one of the best non-reference coolers out there. You will reach or get very close to the 1Ghz clock range. A lot of happy owners. No issues at all with them. Stay very cool.

Let us know which way you finally sway and card you choose. smile.gif

Right, oh god. There's so much choice.

I think I've narrowed it down to 2 card types with a single model each. Having completely ruled out AMD. So here goes:

MSI GTX 560Ti Twin Frozr III HAWK ---- £210

MSI GTX 570 OC Twin Frozr III Power Edition ---- £270

Ack! And they're both MSI - does anyone have experience with MSI service?

I'd go with the MSI TFIII if I was getting a 570. Its the only 570 I would consider actually...

Either of those choices would be great. Just depends on how much ultimate power you want/need....

Don't listen to the people saying that the VRMs are crap on 570s. Sure some of them have been abused and have failed but there are MANY more people that have had great success overclocking the 570s and I can attest to the fact that if you don't abuse the hell out of them they will run fine, and besides we don't know if Nvidia has made any silent changes as to the VRM issue by say upgrading them with higher quality components.

I say get a 570 over a 6950.
