As per the title, i have a Gigabyte x58a-UD3R motherboard with realtek onboard audio.

I have these skips in audio/ crackling noise, i have downloaded the latest drivers and the issue still persists... what gives?

we need to know what setup are you using (speakers/heaphones) maybe its not the realtek causes this? maybe the cables?
and also where this problem happening (all the time / music / in games)

anway try to remove the drivers using DrvierSweeper and then try again

Check your power supply and swap out with another if you are able. I had an OCZ 850 watt power supply that was less than a year old. As it began to go south, I had crackling with dedicated and onboard sound.

Worth a try and if this does not fix your issue, just put your old PSU back in.....

Cheers

it only seems to happen in games, i tired playing movies, and music... it doesn't happen.

I play witcher 2 and i hear occasional cracklings here and there. But once you hear them, you CANNOT NOT hear them, its like i become automatically aware of them and its really annoying.

A game like the Witcher will put your system under heavy load and your power supply is really pulling serious juice. If the power supply has cheap components you will hear a hiss, buzz, or whine through your onboard, unshielded audio when your system is under load.

Again, this may not be the case in your system, but it is something to consider. OCZ has a great reputation for power supplies, but my unit went South very quickly.

Possible EMI... I had this problem with a large GPU right next to my sound card... perhaps you have something interfering with the sound chip on mobo?

you could RMA the mobo for defect

Try and blacklist the game in k-lite Codec pack under ffdshow audio settings

utilize dust-off brand canned air and blow out all audio ports

check all audio cords for shorts or corrosion on the contacts

make sure your audio drivers are updated to the proper version for your motherboard and operating system

DPC LATENCY ISSUES........Referes to a software or driver possibly causing issues.

Do you have any gigabyte overclokcing software installed? Did u recently update your bios?

http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml

Download the tool, and if you get any pings in the red...theres a software or driver causing issuses.

I had similar issues with asus ai suite causing issues after a bios update, once i removed it no more crackling..
