UPDATE: OVERCLOCKING

WELL! I moved on to learning how to overclock... holy bejeebus. Knowing what settings to use and what they do is fantastically difficult.

It looks like I am stable with my i5 at 4.7 GHz @1.37v! Which took me a long LONG LONG time to figure out. And I got it stable using turbo boost! So it idles at 1.6GHz! Which if I understand right... no one does because of stability problems? I am pretty excited that I have a semi low voltage for 4.7 and can use turbo boost.

Settings:

CPU Multiplier - 33
Manual Memory Multiplier - 16
BCLK Manual - 100.2
Internal CPU PLL Overvoltage - Enabled
Turbo Boost Tech - Enabled
- Turbo Ratio 47 on all cores
Turbo Power Limits - 300
Core Current Limits - 300
C1E, C3/C6/, Cpu Thermal Monitor, EIST Function - All enabled (even though everyone says they should be disabled.)
Ram XMP disabled, and manual settings of 9-9-9-24
LLC - Level 5
CPU Vcore - 1.33 (But it idles and loads at 1.4)
QPI/Vtt VOltage - 1.1 (Because I felt I was having ram instability... but I actually have no idea.)
CPU PLL - 1.700 (also have no idea. some people suggested 1.76, but again I felt I got too high of volts to like that, and I might actually have no idea)

All of this will do 3 or so hours with no problems in Prime Blend test. (I haven't tested longer yet.)

Idle Temps: Hottest Core - 32
Load temps: Hottest Core - 60

This is with my GT ap29 fans about 50 percent. So it is no louder than just the fans of the HAF X themselves at their maxed speeds.

QUESTIONS:

- How much power am I actually saving by going with Turbo Boost? And having my computer idle at 1.6?
- Does anyone know about eh ATI crossfire bug? Where the second card loses fan control and temp monitoring until you startup GPU Z?
- HOW THE EF DO I CONTROL THE SYSTEM FANS ON THE MOBO? (the fans plugged into the system fan pins on the mobo) and don't say speed fan... because If i have to try and get that to actually do ANYTHING again i'm going to explode

Speedfan

- Also some of these guys ive seen around here are getting 4.8 cores on like 1.3 vcore.... for example. How is that possible?
http://www.overclock.net/13106007-post545.html
- Also in some games... my 1st card gets like... 15 degrees hotter! Ive heard people say 5 degrees.. and some 10s... but 15?

UPDATE: FINISHED FOR NOW!!! Here is the outcome

Project Nub Tub

HAF X
i5 2500k at 4.7 - Vcore 1.36 - Stable in prime
2 Powercolor 6950s @ stock for now (bios switch for shader unlock)
- Cooled by 2 Heatkiller GPU3 waterblockes (6870 waterblocks fit these)
XSPC Dual Bay Res w/ MCP655 Variable pump
- All black Primochill tubing, with red zipties for clamps
- RX360 Rad - 6 GT AP 29s in push/pull dialed down to silent
- RX120 Rad - 1 Zalman F3 in pull (RX 120 is raised off the floor of case)
Sunbeam 6 Rheosmart PWM fan controller for RX360
Sunbeam 3 Rheosmart PWM fan controller for case fans and RX120
Koolance T-Line for draining loop, with compressions fittings
Vertex II 120GB - with Installation of Windows 7 64 Professional
2x 2TB, 1x1TB, 1x160GB (for Vertex backup)
Corsair HX850 Modular power supply
External Rosewill CD/DVD Burner (more room for my RX360 and Res)
Asus 26'' Monitor 1920x1200
Razer Blackwidow Mechanical Cherry Blue Backlit Keyboard
Logitech MX518 Gaming Mouse

No lights, no strips, no fuss Just a stealthy good looking, but doesn't distract build

Thanks for looking at Project Nub Tub: My first Computer Build

As for new temperatures. I decided on decent temps with silent fans. It's so quiet...

After hours of Prime and Kombuster I get:

CPU Max Core 59 Degrees
GPUs both 49 Degrees

NOW FOR THE PICTURES

Here She is In the all together package of glory.

The beautiful red PCBs from the Powercolor 6950s

The waterblocks, and also where water SHOT OUT LIKE A FIREHOSE because the o rings on one of the crossfire parallel bridges was not on correctly. Dumping water everywhere, and giving me grey hair at the age of 24

The RX120 and the front bottom of the case

The T-Line and RX120 (slight bit of hose bend that I stabilized with zipties, i will reroute at somepoint)

Hard to see, but this is how I raised up the RX120 so cool air could be pulled through the rad. I screwed in long screws into the bottoms, and pressed pieces of hose through the ends of the screws to add as rubber feet that lift the Rad about 2 inchs off the floor of the HAF X

The front, as you can see no DVD drive. (I have one externally, under the monitor)

Res and Rheosmart 6 PWM fan controller

Razer Blackwidow Mechanical Cherry Blue Backlit keyboard

Rosewill External DVD/CD burner

Logitech MX518 Gaming Mouse

There she is

THANKS FOR LOOKING, IT WAS QUITE THE ADVENTURE

Heck no I didn't sleeve it myself! Haha, it's so much cheaper to do your own sleeving... but I just didn't want to take the time to do it. nnooo way. lol

Here you go. It's an nzxt, in red, and it even looks better in person. Thats how good it looks.

Thanks! It's much appreciated! I've never done something like this before, and I feel it has come along so well.
