Gigabyte P67A-UD4 Boot loop

Thread Starter
Problem with my sig rig-

From a cold boot it'll get stuck in a boot loop without getting to the initial BIOS screen. It'll shut down, wait a second or two, and then repeat 4 or 5 times (With the monitor staying black the entire time) until randomly it'll boot no problem. This doesn't happen from a restart; it has to be a cold power off.

I'm disinclined to think it's a problem with my OC because once up and running it's pretty solid; I haven't done a 24 hour torture test but I have done a 1 hour blend, and I've been folding on it without issue for a week or so. Also I've tried bumping my vcore, PLL, and memory voltages by one notch, still get the same problem. I'm not sure if it's relevant, but I'm running in AHCI mode for my SSD.

Any advice is appreciated biggrin.gif

I had an issue like this when I first put mine together, although mine was a noob problem, my graphics card was in the 8x PCI-E slot rather than 16x and it would loop on boot but sometimes would start and be fine while its on lol dunno if that might help, but thats what happened to mine :S

Also a little question about your boot time, with the SSD when it works does it boot very quickly? Mine is horribly slow but its an HDD atm (thinking upgrade to C300)

I had the exact same problem yesterday. Tried a cookie-cutter 4.5GHz OC, left it to stress test for about an hour and it had hung on a BSOD when I got home. Tried a bunch of stuff but eventually ended up clearing the CMOS to fix it. Hope it works for you mate smile.gif.

It might be a specific bios setting that is causing it, try changing around a few things in the bios. Other things you can try is updating the bios or disconnecting USB devices before bootup.

Does it also happen at stock?

It's in the 16x slot, that's a mistake I would make too lol... But yeah, after some optimization I've gotten my boot time down to 25 seconds or so from power button to desktkop and no hd activity. It's thuper thweet

Hoping to avoid just clearing CMOS; I'd like to figure out what's causing it. We'll see!

Looks like trial and error's the way to go. Just started happening recently, so I haven't tried it at stock settings. I'll find out.

Disabled PLL overvoltage, changed "Memory performance enhance" from turbo to standard, and backed off all my voltages to previous settings (Took CPU PLL back to stock.) Seems to have fixed it, but I'll do some more testing to be sure.

Thanks for the help y'all, +rep all around.

Updating the BIOS can help with the boot loop as well, I'm using f3d & fixed it up pretty good. There are newer bios' available, I haven't personally tried them though.
