i7-2600k suddenly requires more power? - Page 3

Well when using two 2600k's at 5 ghz,
Er, like 90C+ with prime at 1.5v so I'm not using that anymore if the games aren't crashing.

My better 2600k gets to like 87C at 1.45v load, IF I keep my ambients low enough (like 27C, and its usually like 30C in here), runs hotter (assuming same vcore as the other one) cuz lower VID, and its common for a lower vid chip that requires less vcore to run hotter at the same voltage than a higher VID chip (that needs more vcore). Either way I stopped priming at high vcores to try to limit cpu degradation (which has happened to both processors). Used to prime at 1.404v load but not anymore on the better chip; now that one needs 1.440-1.452v to pass 1 hour (haven't tried more) and I'm not touching a 12 hour prime anymore (except at 4.5 ghz). Fully game stable at 1.440v load.

Worse chip is running at 1.5v game stable.

The good 2600k does 4.5 ghz at 1.260v 12 hour blend stable, temps max at 69C on the hottest core with realtemp.

Overclock update
Alright so I'm officially done overclocking for now. All I can say is that I'm very happy with what I've achieved so far. Here's a picture of my current progress:
