It might be if you can get it to run. I bought it when GOG had it on sale and have tried everything short of a reinstall and cant get it to run.

For the story yea but the combat is kind of bland its a rpg so i didn't really mind

Not really. The gameplay consists of boring running back and forth on some swamps.

Even if you import your TW1 save in TW2, it's useless the game just pretends like any of the important choices you made in TW1 doesn't matter.

For example one of the big choices of TW1 was Triss vs Shani, but even if you decide to go with Shani and import your save, guess what TW2 completely ignores the fact you threw Triss under the buss! You're still buddy - buddies with Triss and are dating like nothing happened!

Another example is decurse/kill Adda, which is supposed to have huge importance on TW2 storyline because she is heir to the throne, but even if you saved her, guess what TW2 just doesn't care again, they just made up some random girl who will be the next heir.

KingofKings, could it be a bug?

Well, 2 is WAY better, and yet 1 is still a nice game. If you don't mind it being a little rough, as it lacks the amazing quality of polish TW2 has, it's a nice play, however dull it can be in some places.

Too bad most other characters in that game are pretty unappealing to me (Zevran and Allistair... not sure why they're so popular, tick me off so much haha).

Just started Awakening yesterday when my Witcher withdrawal hit. wheee.gif
Morrigan's the best ever. Leliana next, and then I also like Alistar because of all the whining and jokes, aaha they made me laugh biggrin.gif

The combat kinda flawed, you click on an enemy and it attacks, but your have to level 6 different paths for ur melee combat. Steel sword: fast, heavy, group attacks. Silver sword: fast, heavy group attacks.

However, the combat is not that bad, as you will get used to it. The story and atmosphere of the game is amazing tho. Not only that but your choices affect you and I love how the game makes you make real moral decisions such as deciding who are the bad guys. Monster aren't aways the bad guys, sometimes NPCs that you think are good turns out to be bad and likewise. This game is also scary as hell when you explore the dungeons and catacombs. I highly recommend this game. Definitly pick up this before the Witcher 2. If you play the Witcher 2 first you will be dissapointed by The Witcher 1's old graphics and combat style.

I just started the game, was about 6 hrs in. The combat was really clunky in the beginning, just a strange way to do it, plus the camera views. But after getting used to it, the combat isn't to bad, not really like anything I ever played before in that respect. All in all great so far though! I can look past the combat, story seems pretty interesting so far, love all the quests and stuff to do. To bad my gpu just crapped out and I don't wanna fix it.... might have to warm up the oven

Yeah, I did notice the graphics. Although, even my system isn't able to play it at 1440p max'd (no AA) with a solid 60 FPS. I have to drop down to 720p to get 40-90 FPS. A lot of dipping. Ahhh neeed a better GPU tongue.gif

Yeah, I'm starting to get used to it. Seems interesting biggrin.gif

I started on the hardest difficulty, and with the OTS camera keyboard system. It's pretty cool so far.

Is this the kind of game I should be running around searching everywhere for items? Like in DA:O lol. Is there a way to force "alt" on all the time? tongue.gif

You can't run it at a steady 60 on 720p with that spec?confused.gif

Anyway, there's some looting in TW1, but it's miles away from the gear oriented looting of DA:O, you'll see smile.gif Also yes, there's an option in the settings for always showing object names and stuff.

Ah, all right thanks.

That's not my rig yet. TBA stands for (in this case) To Be Acquired. Right now I'm running an i7 860 2.8 and a 4850M 512MB. The game seems to jitter a lot... more than any game I've ever played before. Jumps from 40-100 depending on what I'm looking at or doing. And, during the cinematic (1440p, medium) at the beginning it was getting ~10 FPS whereas afterwards in the game it was ~20-50.

I can't wait until I get my new rig... she'll run it nicely and TW2 should be OK on medium settings.
