if you go through the benchies I'd say consistently between 5-10% better performance on the 560ti. mine has a 100mhz overclock as well

none of the recommendations seems to work for me

the game starts running at 150+ fps and slowly comes down to around 40, at which point it gets extremely stuttery. MY GPU also seems to be using about 60-70% of it's resources.

Could this be a memory leak of sorts?

Try running Afterburner with it's onscreen display feature enabled. Make sure you include the VRAM usage in the OSD so you can monitor it as you play. If you're seeing the usage hitting around 1GB, that could certainly explain the issue. Also, how does your GPU usage look, esp. in the troublesome fps areas? I see you said around 60-70% ... is that the whole time, or does it go downward as the FPS goes downward?

thanks for the input.

Yes, GPU usage goes down when the frame rate comes down & when stuttering starts.

That almost certainly means your processor isn't keeping up/bottlenecking. I remember I used to have an E8400 clocked at 4.3ghz, yet it still disappointed me on most games.

I'm getting a new processor in a couple of weeks so hopefully that will resolve the issue. But what i find unbelievable is how i can play shogun 2 with close to max settings with very smooth frame rate, and how this degenerates into a stuttering mess.

Make sure that your game files are defragmented. Also try alt tabbing out and back in. For some reason my fps fall into the 20s sometimes after it loads a new area and alt tabbing brings it back up to the 40-90 depending on how much water there is around, that seems to kill fps.

Water quality -> Normal will solve your problems at minimal quality difference.

I'm still having problems here. When i first switch on the game it's running at 100+ fps in combat heavy sequences with lots of magic effect on screen. but 10-20 min later the whole thing comes down to 30 and it gets very stuttery.

GPU use also looks weird, or at least i think it's weird. My GPU processor seems to be running at 100% but the memory usage is 256
