Athlon II 635 x4 OC

Thread Starter
Ok so I'm about to replace my CPU soon and I want to overclock this stock 2.9Ghz to the limit! My question is how high should I overclock it? I am awaiting a V6 GT cpu cooler and want to test this piece of crap to its limits before I install a new one. I currently have it at 3.4ghz with stock cooling but have a feeling with the new cooler can easily make it over 4.2ghz. any comments? and I want it stable with prime95 for minimum 30min.

okay, it sounds like that your willing to do anything to that chip seeing as your getting a new one.....

Put 1.7V on the CPU and 1.55V on the CPU-NB, SMASH that FSB right up to the heavens and see how high you can get her to boot, get the Northbridge about 2800MHz too.

It should live until you get that new CPU.... Which is Bulldozer I'm gueesing

no athlon will make 4GHZ they max at around 3.8GHZ with a sweet spot at around 3.6GHZ and 30min`s of prime 95 isn't enough to test stability yo need 4 hours minimum at the most stressful setting

haha That if it is decent or finally making the much needed swap over to intel Yeah I will upload some screenshots hopefully within a week, when I receive the cooler Because I have a feeling that high on a stock cooler wont run prime 95 let alone boot without reaching 100 degrees

I was able to achieve 4.0GHz on my old Athlon 635, but it was not stable at all.... it was a OEM processor at the time
