wow, below 40 on water, that's sweeeeeet!

got rid of mine before i have to splash out on water, but nothing wrong with the card though, plays game at very decent frams, just a bit too hot to my liking, hope my soon coming 570 won't let me down on temps

Then he must have some cold ambients. Mine has an EK block being cooled by a MCR320 (push pull medium yate loons) and a Black Ice Pro III Compact (push scythe ultra kaze 3000) and I'm idling at 43C. My temp delta is around 10C between idle and full load.

Dumb question but I have to ask. Have you ever opened the case and blown it off with air? If that was purchased from someone else, chances that it's caked with dust can be there. If that's caked with dust you'd bring temps up like crazy depending on how bad it is. Before going RMA, check that and clean it out.

Ummm....

Anyway, what temps does it reach on load, when running afterburner for instance? Because I'm not sure your testing with NFS running in the background is very reliable of true idle temps....

Yep I did .

I changed power management and now its idling 51 but core is downlocked to 50Mhz , it means that everything is fine ? I still have feeling that with 3d clocks idling on 84-85 is quite a lot .

When card gets on load, fan goes crazy and temps are around 92 (Vangate/Heaven)

with your overclock, 92 is fine for agtx 470 at load, max temp for the 4x0 series is about 105 i think! i wouldn't worry about it too much now that your idle temp is down to 51.
