It is a standard practice in the industry. Releasing data ahead of the launch can mess up not only your supply chain but also your partners’ supply chains..
Yes we've seen all these stock answers already a hundred times in the Bulldozer Blog (no disrespect to JF). So why doesn't the same thing apply to Llano? Won't advertising Llano detract from sales of AMD's mainstream products, which incidentally is where AMD keep most of their eggs?

It's a fair point.

No because AMD knows for sure that Llano is better than ANYTHING Intel will be able to offer for that price. Plus Llano will be hitting a much larger market, the mainstream market and the more people hear about it the better. AMD will be making their money from Llano, not from Bulldozer, not yet that is. Next year when Stars+ come out, then AMD will be able to say 'our APUs are now powered by one of the most powerful x86 architectures in the world' (if that is indeed true).

To supplement this, the llano chips that AMD has shown off are all low power consumption APUs for laptops (the fastest llanos will be for a desktop platform). I think this is just standard marketing to convince OEMs to buy llano not sandy for laptops as that will make AMD way way more money than FX.

Futhermore, there are no other AMD APUs in the laptop market yet so AMD is not really hurting themselves with the videos whereas Phenom sales would stop if official BD benchmarks where released.

Unlike Intel, who can kill a popular socket (LGA 1366) without blinking a eye, even one lost Phenom sale hurts the underdog AMD.
