Every company engages in some kind of 'touting their own horn' activities however it should be stated it all depends on the severity and the level of the activities. It doesn't matter what marketing campaigns either competing companies produce. They each have campaigns and marketing/advertising. It's normal business practice. Perhaps you wish to recall for example Intel's Marketing Campaign against AMD's Three Core Processors "Two Cores are Better Than One".
I agree with everything you said.
I thought about not using the 6990 example for that reason, as it would be open to debate, therefore, I removed that example. I found a better one below.
Point is, AMD has been shown to blow their own horn, when Canis-X said that they don't and hasn't seen it to be true. Now he knows even AMD blows their own horn at times.
Personally, if they wanted to be all cool guy with the Sandy Bridge Recall, they should've just released Bulldozer, instead of making fun of Intel, but that's JMO.

Thank you, I appreciate your comments.
My trolling agenda includes but is not limited to learning as much as I can about Bulldozer, so I can build my 2nd rig with Bulldozer, or a 2600K.
I'm also very sarcastic, and some people just have no sense of humor, and take things way too seriously.
He said that AMD doesn't blow their own horn, and I showed him examples that they do.
And since you are keen on being specific....
Does this qualify as a "pre-release" example of AMD blowing their own horn?
