native Ubuntu support for PCI devices

Thread Starter
If I were to buy a RAID controller (like a legitimate hardware card for one of my PCIe slots), what should I get that would work well with Ubuntu?

The reason I'm asking is because I've had to compile drivers for hardware that I understood to already be supported. It may have been my fault, but it is a mistake that I would not care to repeat.

LSI cards are solid (megaraid_sas driver). See also the giant PERC5 sticky in the RAID section of the forum.

If you're using Ubuntu with a hardware RAID card, you must install using the "alternate" CD.
