No, i'm not overclocked, haven't updated my sig, my temps were going through the roof on the stock cooler so i reset everything back to stock. I'm actually trying to OC using that noob quick and dirty method to 4Ghz posted on this site, and i keep getting BSOD after running 1 minute of large Ftt's in Prime.

but for that 1 minute, my temps at 4Ghz (70c) were lower than with stock cooler @2.8Ghz (85c)

Little update, all is fine. Cooler works wonders, I oc'd to 4Ghz...

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I turned off HT because with HT i was getting 83C on first 2 cores in prime95....

I was shocked to see that turning that off reduced my temps in prime by 15 C, down to 68C.

LOL... hyper threading WHO?!?!? never heard of it! LOL!

i never used to get above 75C while rendering at 100% full load. I am extremely worried right about now.
Honestly that doesnt surprise me with the stock cooler provided with your chip. The stock coolers were junk, and now that your rendering video your working it a bit, and can see it is going to require a better cooler.

Your cpu should be able to hit 4GHz without those high temps, I'd say there's something wrong with your chip, motherboard, or power supply.

You just turned your i7 into a core 2 quad.
I'd also recommend that you get rid of your AS5 and get some MX-4

That is a nice overclock BUT if you want to continue encoding in Vegas, I advise you turn HT on. If you termps are too high, then overclock to 3.6-3.8 GHz but leave HT ON. Rendering and Encoding benefits a lot from HT.

Yea my temps were fine at 3.8 because i only set 1.275v in the bios. For this i had to set 1.325v

Which brings me to another question, why does cpuz tell me im at 1.296v when i clearly have 1.325v in bios?

Same thing when i had 1.275v selected in BIOS it said i was only running 1.248v in cpuz???

But anways, im going to do a test rendering same video to see the difference HT off vs on

Most probably because the CPU was not under load. Next time you open CPU-Z, make sure you run Prime 95 at the same time. It will show the maximum voltage you set in BIOS.
