Do some games not support Crossfire X?

Thread Starter
Do certain games have problems with GPU's in Crossfire X? I bought a 6870 knowing I would buy another one in around a year, but I see so many threads in this section where people are reporting CF to not work in their games, or there are some problems.

Amd releases crossfire profiles that get updated every so often. Some games do not support it but not many. If its a newer game you are looking for then they are probably working on a profile or driver update to support it. Although, some games just dont scale all that well even with the crossfire profiles/drivers.

i ran crossfire on all of my games and never had an issue - WoW, Starcraft 2, CoD Black Ops, Left for Dead 2.

I think it is more an issue of the game not taking advantage of the Crossfire technology, meaning you wont see any better performance in those games with crossfire. Some games however are supported by crossfire (via crossfire profiles), and those ones will take advantage of it. But having crossfire and not being able to play a game? havent seen it myself.

When crossfire works its brilliant but some times you have to wait for AMD to relaese a CAP or driver update or for the games developer to release a patch to get it fully working. It is annoying but good things come to those who wait is a saying apt for this situation.

Unfortunately this is sometimes a problem with multi-gpu setups, although it really doesn't happen often. Very rarely you will see a performance decline with SLI and Crossfire, however (as another has pointed out), there are "profiles" that help to minimize this.
