My GTX560ti OC reverting back

Thread Starter
My MSI gtx560ti OC edition came with a factory OC setting of core:880MHz memory: 2100MHz. Yesterday I installed afterburner 2.1.0 and applied an OC of core:950MHz and memory:2200MHz while keeping the voltage same as before (1.0120v). Everything was working fine and I even achieved a higher 3dmark11 score of 4470 ( +200 more than before). The games ran fine too.
Today I started the pc and the first thing I checked was the afterburner window. It showed the current speed to be 950mhz core. So I ran 3dmark again but got the result I used to get before my custom oc. So I checked 3dmark system spec-sheet and sure enough my gpu core was recorded as 880mhz and memory 2100mhz. Furmark returned similar results while afterburner kept on suggesting that my gpu was running at 950/2200mhz setting. So I reapplied the OC and everything was now ok.
Why did this happen? Do I have to reapply my oc everytime I reboot (although I have selected "apply oc at startup" in afterburner?

This happens in afterburner, about once every week for me. I have a windows 7 gadget installed that shows me my clock speeds so I can tell when it doesn't apply the ocs.

It's called GPU monitor, but it doesn't work out of the box. After you install it from the gadget website go here

http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=317912

to mod the gadget to work with Afterburner.
