I had the same question and was recommended the Gigabyte Z68X-UD4-B3.. It's around $179 and should work nicely.

After coming from Asus to Gigabyte, I can tell you the Gigabyte boards will give you the best quality, also note that the Z68 GA boards has EFI via windows meaning you configure it in windows can take screen shots and has all the features + that the Asus UEFI has. Other vendors have decent boards, just many have issues.

Example Asus known issues with EIST not being disabled properly, even at high performance setting (you can check the Asus bios thread on hardforum as there's alot of discussion about that, and people unable to stop EIST from kicking in with Unix...)

or is there a newer/better board for that price atm.

That board is a step up from the P8P67 Pro, there are some slight bonus features, (Such as Dual LAN). If the board is cheaper than the Pro then get it, or close enough to were you don't care than get it.
Other wise the features are un-needed, and the Pro will do just fine.

ASUS P8P67 series motherboards are very nice. P8P67 PRO is the most popular. Both feature and price wise it is a strong motherboard.
