MSI Afterburner Issue

Thread Starter
So I have just installed my new XFX 5850 and I would like to overclock the core clock and underclock the memory clock. I had installed MSI Afterburner and it would only let me modify the fan speed. When I try to change the cfg file it tells me "Access is Denied" and won't let me enable the overclocking. Can someone help me? What am I doing wrong?

Are you on a limited account? Try running as admin.

Out of curiosity, why do you want to underclock the mem?

To lower the heat output. I'm the admin for the computer and I finally figured it out as just this User profile had permissions for everything BUT full control. Now the issue is trying to get this XFX 5850 past 775 Mhz.

Why not just use catalyst?

Afterburner seemed a little clunky to me.

Because Catalyst limits how low on the memory clock I can go.
